GTA:IV has been given a 10/10 so many times that conspiricists shouts for transparency are starting to warrant consideration.
If GTA IV earns full marks for 'being a good game' then whatever score would you give to a better game.
Let's find out.
GTA: San Andreas is a better game. Better and older. Better, older and more carefully considered.
Better, older, more carefully considered and with more charm.
Charm and countryside.
And two mountains, one in the woods and one in the desert. Mountains that you can cycle to the peaks of, leap from the edge of and pop your parachute before you hit the ground.
The muddy, low-res, PS2 rendered ground.
Now I haven't even really played GTA:IV except for one hazy week-night in early February. I have however, dusted off my PS2 and put about 100 hours into re-completing San Andreas.
And now?
I'm about ready to arm myself to the teeth and spark the revolution that's so sorely needed by whatever means necessary.
So that's what you give a game when 10 isn't adequate. You give your life to the cause.
One hell of a game.
