Tiananmen Square: 20 Years Later

If you search the internet for the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 while in China you won't find much information.

Google-China has censored itself on behalf of the Chinese Government and the protests' entry on Chinese language Wikipedia is barely a paragraph long.

If you are in China you'll only learn what 'really' happened.

What 'really' happened was that the quick-thinking Chinese government took brave and necessary action to avoid a potential catastrophe on behalf of its would-be electorate.

There is nothing new about historical revisionism of course, and some would argue that an agreeable lie is preferable to an uncomfortable truth.

So, as a 20 year anniversary tribute to the brave soldiers who shot at their unarmed countrymen on that proud June day, we would like to raise our glasses to Negationism.

Helping lift our colonial conscience since 1578.
